AllanDay: I think it's great to have a place where people can write about their favourite applications and recommend them to other people. I just don't think that this is the best place to do it! 'Applications' is a very generic term, and this might be one of the first pages newcomers to the wiki see. I think it is important for this page to reflect the needs and interests of those users. If no one objects, I'll set up a new [[UbuntuHelp:RecommendedApplications|RecommendedApplications]] page (or maybe CommunityRecommendedApplications?) and move the 'Best of the Rest' material there. That way we can develop this page into something more tailored to new users and also have a dedicated place for recommendations.
