Discussion

Wiki - evolving or statik?

-- LaunchpadHome:duncan-lithgow <<DateTime(2008-09-05T10:34:00+0200)>> Since the last round of discussion, which mostly consisted of a few people wanting to change things and Matt saying variations of 'wait!', 'let's' talk about it first' and 'that hasn't been approved' nothing much has moved forward. Can I again suggest that people who want to make chanegs go ahead and do it and Matt takes a back seat and allows the wiki to develop in it's own collective way? Matt, feel free to respond here.

  • -- LaunchpadHome:duncan-lithgow <<DateTime(2008-09-05T10:34:55+0200)>> Matt probably won't respond here as it doesn't look like he's subscribed to this page. What now then?
  • -- LaunchpadHome:mdke <<DateTime(2008-09-05T20:45:37Z)>>:
  • Duncan: just contribute to the discussions on the mailing list. It isn't at all true that "nothing much has moved forward". Phil has developed the Tag page which the team has approved as the definitive way to move forward on page headers, and I've just kicked off a discussion about a new draft of the WikiGuide page. I've also spent a lot of time recently developing a new and clean theme for the wiki, which should be used to improve usability of the wiki for both users and contributors.
  • It's easier for important discussion about the wiki to take place on the mailing list, as it is a much better forum for discussion than wiki pages themselves, which are messy and difficult to follow for those interested, not to mention the fact that they confuse users looking for real help. As for your suggestion that the wiki be allowed to develop in its collective way, as before you are not totally wrong: but you need to understand that if we are going to have a productive wiki, total anarchy is not the way forward. Progress is being made, and contributing to discussion and adding ideas is very easy: you just need to communicate.

Status of WikiGuide?

-- duncan-lithgow <<DateTime(2008-08-10T12:13:05+0200)>> What is the status of the article? Is it official in some way? Who is allowed to edit it and who decides who is allowed?
