Introduction
"Texmaker is a free LaTeX editor, that integrates many tools needed to develop documents with LaTeX, in just one application". The latest version 1.9.2, also available in the Ubuntu Karmic repositories, was released on 30.6.2009. The Texmaker website is at: http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/
Installation
Texmaker can be installed from the Synaptic Package Manager. 1. Open Synaptic and search for Texmaker. 2. Mark it for installation and install it with all its dependencies. 3. Texmaker will be available from the Office sub-menu of the Applications menu on the Gnome panel.
Comparison Between Texmaker and Kile
Kile is more feature rich than Texmaker at present. However Texmaker unlike Kile, does not depend on KDE in any essential way, though it is written in QT.
