Intro
This page is a work in progress currently. Feel free to add your knowledge or just a question if you have one. somebody in the future will see it and provide an answer. Of course if you have a technical question or problem getting ndiswrapper functionioning, this is not the place for support. You will find FAQs on the ndiswrapper wiki here.
Technical
Q. I see hardware present, driver present but no wlan0 when I run iwconfig nor is it listed in the networking window.
- There is a device and recognized driver but it's not the correct driver needed for the device to work with ndiswrapper. Even though you pulled it from your devices cd or the manufactures site specifically, it is still a windows driver. You need to find one that is compatible and works.

I am trying to install a wirelss pci card on the pc that is running ubuntu. i have done what they said at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper?action=show&redirect=SetupNdiswrapperHowto#trouble. when i type in iwconfig in the terminal I get... lo no wireless extensions eth0 no wireless extensions sit0 no wireless extensions wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID: off/any mODE: AUTO FREQ:2.412 gHZ Sensitivity=0/3 rts thr: 2432 b fragment thr 2432b power management:off link quality: 100/100 Signal level:-63dbm noiselevel -256dbm rx invalid nwid:0 rx invalid crypt:0 rx invalid frag:0 tx excessive retries:0 invalid misc:0 missed beacon:0 in the networking are, i have activated the card put in the wep key and ssid. i also put the mac id into the wireless access point. it says it is active. thanks, akilan

Q. What is the purpose of the .sys and .bin files as they are not used during install process?
- These files are not used during install but are needed for the driver to function properly.
