There are new, and IMHO very innovative start menus for Gnome and KDE.. Under KDE, it is called "Kickoff", under Gnome I dont know the name, sorry. But right now it is included in Suse Linux and Sabayon Linux, and surely some distributions more.. Could it be included into Ubuntu/Kubuntu? I think its very user-friendly. It looks like that in KDE: http://home.kde.org/~binner/kickoff/sneak_preview.html Here is a package for Kubuntu Edgy: http://3v1n0.tuxfamily.org/pool/edgy/3v1n0/kicker-kickoff_1_i386.deb And like that on Gnome: http://www.pro-linux.de/berichte/media/sled10_menushow.html I tried it in Sabayon Linux, and there you are able to switch between the traditional view and the new approach. Perhaps we can do it like this in Kubuntu/Ubuntu.
