Modems supported by the Intel536EP driver

This page describes how to install the driver for the Intel 536EP internal modem on Ubuntu for i386 systems. Some of these are sold as Cnet modems and have Ambient chips on board. Still in the terminal window, type the following:

Currently, the graphical program gnome-ppp is not included in the standard installation, but once you are connected with wvdial, you can easily install it with the UbuntuHelp:Synaptic Package Manager. To setup wvdial, first make a backup of the current configuration file:
