Introduction

This DKMS (Dynamic Kernel Module Support) package (http://linux.dell.com/projects.shtml#dkms) provides support for installing supplementary versions of kernel modules. The package compiles and installs into the current kernel tree. Uninstalling restores the previous modules.

I'm sure if you've been googling for a while trying to figure out how to get that weird wireless card working under the latest Ubuntu.. *this* particular bit of documentation was a relief to find. You say to yourself "OHH *that* is how to make it go!" Or not. Any hints as to how to get started using the DKMS system for those weird deprecated (linux-restricted-modules) other than the NVIDIA or ATI drivers? Bored? Try using the acx100 driver as an example: http://acx100.sourceforge.net
