Introduction

This is the introduction page for AmpachePackaging Project, and a call for experienced maintainer/maintainer's.

Purpose

The AmpachePackaging Project was formed to first and for most to get Ampache into the Ubuntu and Debian archives. The project was also developed to create a detailed php web app packaging guide. It has been noted that documentation in this area is either lacking or incomplete. To increase the projects members knowledge of the packaging process and the Ubuntu/Debian distro. Ampache has been written to work on any web server that supports mysql and php. Right now Apache2 is the only web server supported but other web servers types will be added in the future.

Ampache Package Is Now Available

The Ampache Package is a reality. Ampache currently resides on Launchpad in my personal PPA. One advantage of having a Launchpad PPA is that the Ampache package is now available via apt-get. All you have to do is add this line to your /etc/apt/sources.list and then use apt-get to install Ampache. deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/cjsmo/ubuntu gutsy main restricted universe multiverse deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/cjsmo/ubuntu gutsy main restricted universe multiverse. I personally think that the addition of PPA's to Launchpad is a very good service to new developers. The Ampache package can also be downloaded from http://vollmer.kicks-ass.net. Ampache-3.4-alpha1 and ampache-3.4-alpha2 are available from this site. Ampache-3.4 (which is still in development) is a total rewrite of Ampache in PHP5, along with the addition of many new features such as dynamic active playlist's, last.fm support, mystrands support and much more.
