Bringing your X-server back to life

There can be many reasons for an X-server to stop running!

• Have you upgraded lately?

• Have you fiddled with xorg.conf?

• Have you installed other gfx-drivers?

Whatever caused the disaster, something has to be done about it!

The easy way

The easiest way, is to let the X-server fix itself!

Try running this command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

And then try to start the xserver:

startx

The not so easy way

If the above attempt failed, we can try something similar - it just takes a lot longer to fix.

Run this command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

And basically do, what the computer just tried - But manually!
