This page is a short guide about installing and using the terminal program screen
.
Introduction
screen
is a console program that lets you open and switch between multiple virtual consoles. Programs running in a virtual console will continue running in the background when disconnected from the virtual console.
Installation
sudo aptitude -y install screen
That was easy!
Starting Sceen
You start screen by typing
screen
Read the intro text and then hit ENTER to be dumped into a virtual console. Once you are in the virtual console, you will notice that is does not look any different than a normal console.
Using Screen
Be default, the control-A key combination starts a screen
command (hereby abbreviated C-A).
To create a new virtual console: C-A n
