Gaim

Installing Gaim
Gaim is available in the Main repository. This package can be installed in a number of ways: through Adept Manager, Synaptic, or in a terminal. Refer to InstallingSoftware for further instructions.
Setting up Gaim
Start Gaim with: Applications -> Internet -> Gaim Internet Messenger Before you can use Gaim you need existing accounts with one of the following protocols. Gaim supports:
- AIM (Create an account )
- ICQ (Create an account)
- Gadu-Gadu (create an account using the official client)
- GroupWise (See your Novell server administrator)
- IRC (see XChatHowto)
- Jabber (Create an account)
- MSN (Create an account)
- Napster
- Yahoo (Create an account)
If you do not have any IM account you need to create an account one first, use the links above. Fill out your account information. Online connects or disconnects you from the server. Auto-login will automatically login to the IM-server when you start Gaim.
