Automatix2 is a graphical interface (written in python and BASH) for automating the installation for some of the most commonly requested applications in Debian based Linux operating systems. Automatix currently supports Ubuntu and Mepis.

Warnings and Security Issues
Please note that Automatix2 is a third-party utility, developed and maintained independently by the Automatix Team and is not supported nor recommended by Ubuntu.
- Package fails to conform to Debian or Ubuntu policy.
- Has been reported to cause problems with upgrading to newer versions of Ubuntu (ie. Dapper to Edgy).
- Does not warn you before overwriting files.
- May save files with incorrect permissions.
- May allow users to interfere with other users files.
- Installs truecrypt suid root (security issue).
- Deletes lines from fstab replacing them with device nodes rather than UUIDs.
Installation
Follow the installation instructions on the Automatix web site.
Usage
After a successful Installation, Automatix can be found in Applications -> System Tools on Ubuntu and Main Menu -> System in Kubuntu/Xubuntu. Launch Automatix2, select the application(s) you want to install and click the Start button.
