Software Telephone devices can be more flexible than the hardware modems... And they are typically cheaper. Don't settle for the buy a hardware modem line, Buying open hardware will help everybody! There are no working modem models listed. Some exist, nobody seems to care to list working models! This modem must JUST WORK! meaning, that apt-get something-or-other and use the ppp utils, and it just plain works...
