My name is Gregory Taylor (Ubuntu Activist/Aspiring Member) and I'm a Sophomore in Computer Science at Clemson University. I've been working with linux for about six years now, starting with RedHat and moving on through the various distributions. I hopped around a lot, contributed to few of them such as Yoper, but never really found one that I was entirely comfortable with until I heard some of my co-developers talking about some new african sounding distribution that was reportedly a rapidly rising force in the Linux world. I tried it out a few weeks after its initial release, and sure enough I became hooked and have stuck with it since then. I spread word of Ubuntu to our local campus Linux Group (Clemson Linux User Group) and eventually we adopted the distro as our primary platform. We now recommend Ubuntu to our newcomers and fully support it. In a recent development, we have convinced the school's technical organization to allow students who purchase laptops from the school to have Ubuntu installed by itself or dual-booted with Windows. We now have a growing Ubuntu community within Clemson and many people contributing to make it easily ran by the average student.
