This is a model of Software Defined Radio available from Tony Parks. Rich Mitchell N3III has written a page that takes you through the steps of construction one step at a time in a Build To Learn method. His page also contains more information on the models available and ordering info. You can get more information from the SoftRock Yahoo group or from RAParks@CTCISP.com

Please use N3III webpage for constructing a SoftRockLite, it is organized to build in steps and is a good way to learn each function of the SDR. If you are otherwise familiar then the only construction tip I have is to do the SMT components firsts, otherwise it would be difficult to solder them when you have populated the boards around them. Windows has several pieces of software for SDR's, the two most popular are Rocky and WinRAD. For Linux, there is LinRAD, originally written for MoonBounce it has been modified for SDR. I have a seperate page for LinRAD.

SoftRock can be ordered from Tony Parks (RAParks@CTCISP.com) or from the Yahoo group. You need to be a member of the Yahoo group to order or get documentation.

There are two suggested mods for the SoftRock. First is to use a toggle switch for the 40m/80m jumper, so that you can change between the two bands. And the second is to use a DDS-60 http://www.amqrp.org/kits/dds60/ instead of the crystal to get better control over the carrier frequency and bandwidth.
