JabRef is an open source graphical bibliography reference manager. It uses bibtex as its native file format, which makes it ideal for modifying your LaTeX bibliographies.

JabRef comes as a Java jar file (available from the JabRef home page), and you need to have Java installed to run it.

For convenience, change the default "open with" behavior for jar files:

  1. Right-click a .jar file and select Properties > Open With > Add > Use a custom command
  2. Type java -jar into the box.
