- To turn off tapping, in Terminal type:
| gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

| Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"

- Include these options at the end of this section:
| Option "SHM'Config" "on"

| Option "Tapping'Off" "1"
|
| Option "Max'Tap'Time" "0"

- Once you have rebooted, you can also install gsynaptics, which gives a Ubuntu-friendly GUI set-up so you can tweak your settings. Once installed, you'll find it here:
