小程序是常驻面板的一些图标，用于启动特定的应用程序，有时提供其他功能。
不只在默认的Ubuntu安装中，而且在有些其他安装中都有许多小程序可用。下面的内容解释了如何使用小程序，并列出Ubuntu中可用的关键的小程序。（参见：UbuntuHelp:Software）

假设你已经安装了需要的小程序，或者它已经是默认Ubuntu安装的一部分，那么你所需要做的只是右键单击面板上的空白部分，会出现一个菜单。选择“添加到面板...”，然后会出现下列选项：
